AllSPMandAFMprobesofthePointprobe®seriesaremadefrommonolithicsiliconwhichishighlydopedtodissipatestaticcharge.TheyarechemicallyinertandofferahighmechanicalQ-factorforhighsensitivity.Thetipisshapedlikeapolygonbasedpyramid.

Thehardmagneticcoatingconsistsofa40nmthickcobaltalloylayerdepositedonthetipsideofthecantileverwhichleadstoapermanentmagnetizationofthetipwiththedirectionusuallyalongthetipaxis.Werecommendmagnetizingthetipbymeansofastrongmagnet(e.g.aNdFeBmagnet,afewmillimetersinsize)priortothemeasurement.
Thealuminumreflexcoatingdepositedonthedetectorsideofthecantileverenhancesthereflectanceofthelaserbeamandpreventslightfrominterferingwithinthecantilever.
Asthecoatingisalmoststress-freethebendingofthecantileverduetostressislessthan2degrees.
Thehardmagneticcoatingconsistsofa40nmthickcobaltalloylayerdepositedonthetipsideofthecantileverwhichleadstoapermanentmagnetizationofthetipwiththedirectionusuallyalongthetipaxis.Werecommendmagnetizingthetipbymeansofastrongmagnet(e.g.aNdFeBmagnet,afewmillimetersinsize)priortothemeasurement.
Thealuminumreflexcoatingdepositedonthedetectorsideofthecantileverenhancesthereflectanceofthelaserbeamandpreventslightfrominterferingwithinthecantilever.
